Household incomes in Indiana consistently rate below the national average. It’s time for a change. We need to focus on providing a living wage for Hoosier workers and giving all workers in our state a safe and healthy work environment. Under Republican leadership, we have seen tax cut after tax cut for big business, but have done virtually nothing for working Hoosiers.

One of the best things we can do to ensure the long-term stability of our workforce is to properly fund our schools and ensure that Hoosier children have early access to education.

Every child deserves the opportunity to fulfill their potential. It’s time we give our teachers the resources they need to educate our children and it’s time we give Hoosier families all over the state the opportunity to enroll their children in pre-K.

We need better jobs in Indiana – jobs that pay better, but also jobs that train their workers to gain skills and get better. Our caucus is committed to helping our workers continue to grow in their job and continue to move up their career ladder.

We must reinvest in Indiana’s roads, highways, and bridges. Almost 27,000 miles of Indiana’s highways need resurfacing or restructuring and more than 4,000 of our bridges are structurally deficient or obsolete. We must make fiscally responsible long-term investments in repairing our infrastructure.

We think it’s time we let Hoosiers know that their friends, family members, and neighbors are all truly protected within the full scope of the law. It’s time to repeal RFRA and end legal discrimination in Indiana. It’s time to pass hate crime legislation. And it’s time to stop restricting voting rights. Let’s do the right thing.
